Dr. Daniel Benetti is the Chairman of the Division of Marine Affairs and Policy at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, where he is an Associate Professor and the Director of Aquaculture. He has over 25 years experience in aquaculture worldwide and has published close to one hundred articles in aquaculture science and technology. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he carries out R&D and technology transfer projects for the development of sustainable marine hatchery and offshore growout initiatives. He has extensive experience with the industry and in outreach, and has been a consultant for the government private sectors in Latin America, U.S., Europe, Asia, Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and Australia. Coordinating the NOAA/NSG/NMAI effort in the SE US and the Caribbean, he has partnered with the government and the industry to spearhead advanced technology for hatchery and offshore aquaculture development in this region. He is currently working in marine fish culture projects/operations with the private and government sectors in Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American countries.
